Migration to Amazon AWS

Post by dave »

I've been using the same hot provider for more than 15 years(1), but after an involuntary configuration change broke the forum software for the Nth time, I got fed up and migrated the entire website to the Amazon Web Services cloud. This site is now running on an Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) micro-instance, over which I have complete control. I'm learning as I go, and the new installation of phpBB has a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out (such as anonymous guests not being able to see the forums). But I'm optimistic that once this is set up properly, it will be much more stable.

Please post any issues or thoughts here, or PM me.

Dave

(1) The website was originally composed with Netscape Navigator's built-in editor, before Netscape was obsolete! That's why it looks like it's from 1997.

Personally, I like the retro look.
