Adding photos and files

Post by dave »

This forum software, phpBB, does not have the most intuitive method for adding photos and files, but once you know what to do, it's easy.

One thing about posting pictures and files. While it may be easy to add in a link to a photo hosting site, or a file hosting site, it's MUCH better if you upload them directly. With an external host, if the files expire, or the hosting site changes policy or disappears, the content will be lost. If you upload it directly, it will be here on the site, which runs on AWS and is regularly backed up remotely. That way, everyone can appreciate your content including the pictures.

To Upload an attachment, use the "Attachments" tab, below the text editing window (Circled by the upper green oval in the screen capture below). Click the tab, and then you can use the "Add files" button to select any number of files to add.

The files will automatically show up at the end of your post. Or, if you want to insert pictures inline with your text, place your cursor in the editing window where you want the picture, then click the "Place inline" button for the desired picture. (Circled by the lower green oval in the photo below.)

Thanks!
