Using AT Power supply

Post by Klyball »

Any one using a old at power supply to power your systems

I was having issues with my test set up as my bench supply only does 3a so I was using a couple different supplies for +5 -9 +12 and wanted a more permanent solution when I case up my 510 setup
I checked the schematics of a couple of older at power supplies and found that some feed the -5 and -12 with 7905 and 7912,
I cracked open one I have on hand and found it had a 7905 and a unknown reg for the -12 it is hidden behind a big inductor and would take a lot of desoldering just to read it. I metered the 7905 and its getting around -12 to the input so I swapped it out for a 7909. I now have 1 supply with lots of power and connections to run my system..
