Superboard II Rev D construction.

Thought I would start a post on our experience building an OSI 600 Rev D system.
Josh, Steve and I have ordered our 600 Rev D boards from Grant, and our keycaps from Dave.

Steve will be ordering the Cherry MX switches (or equivalent). And soon will be sourcing our chips. I'm thinking of small daughter card that plugs into the CPU socket to address all 40,191 bytes in one shot. Or see if any more of those 32k boards are still available. :0). I know at least three people who would want at least one. ;0)

Awesome Thank you :) is there a BOM available anywhere?
I may forgo the sockets on most ttl chips, and socket the more
sensitive and valuable chips. :)

any chance you can post pictures of your completed one, :)
:) something to look forward to having. :)

did you ever do any experiments with colour?

Cheers. :)

I would socket everything minimal cost in the scheme of things ,same soldering way cleaner and easier for modding socket the crystal also.

Well we have collected almost all the parts,
the ones we still need are not very challenging,
so we should have all the parts soon :)

last night I went to Josh's and we put together a kit of parts for the three of us. :)
it was a fun night. :)

Cheers folks, the Boards should be here on friday :)

3 Crystals have been ordered from www.digikey.ca, along with enough ic sockets to cover all the 14, 16,18, 24 and 40 pin sockets. :)
I wasnt going to do sockets initially, but some of the chips I got from A-1 Electronics surplus, so I thought best be safer than sorry,
and if the sockets fail in 40 years, I'll be too dead to care. :) he he.... the sockets on my OSI Superboard II Rev B are still working fine
for the chips that use them :) I have at least 40 1N914 diodes available. I found these nifty 24 pin white machined sockets, i found 8 of those. :)
should look pretty cool.

I will be building some kind of Clear Plexi glass enclosure for this, or perhaps at least a mount for the board and the power supply. :)

that's my update for today. The bare boards from Grant should be arriving tomorrow. :) Keycaps have been delivered to our Buddy in the U.S. who is holding onto them until Josh and I get there on the 29th. :)

I kinda cheated and started without the other two folks, I had to. Here is my board so far. Folks who already built this rev D, any gotcha’s I have to worry about during construction?
dang, having issues putting the picture in... will try again from another machine. :)
still not working... will post the pic in the facebook group.
