Odd Superboard Arcade From Twitter

I spotted something that's put OSI systems in a bit of a spotlight on twitter, a rare moment for our unique corner of the vintage computing hobby:

I've isolated a few of the most relevant images, but the thread is worth digging through for details.




It looks like a superboard that is expanded via a ribbon cable to an 8-slot bus with some other bits and pieces tacked on. It's got a floppy drive, modem, and a lot of rodent detritus. I didn't know you could expand 600-series all-in-one boards. Have y'all seen anything quite like that before?

Cool! Thanks for the link. It is possible to interface the 600 board to the 48-pin bus via the OSI 620 bus expander. I've never seen a computer in an arcade cabinet before.

As I recall, the 620 interface connected to the 610 board, not directly to the 600. I certainly never saw one, and I've wondered whether any were ever actually sold. So I don't think that's a 620 from OSI connecting the 600 board to the bus. More likely either a home-made cable or a D + N product, like a couple of the boards shown. D + N did like to use multi-colored ribbon cables (as with their parallel printer interface), but that doesn't prove anything.

Ahh, gotcha. I figured since I didn't recognize the configuration, it was best to consult with those more knowledgeable than I am about OSI machines.

I'm curious to see what becomes of this oddity.
