Re: 500 Board

You could try putting a LED/resister from the tx line to ground. At 300 baud you should see the LED flicker. With 9-12 volts on the tx line I would try it with a 2200-3300 ohm resister. That would give the LED 2-3ma. That should b just enough to see it without loading down the signal too much. You c...

Re: 500 Board

I use RS232 serial communication on my 510 CPU. It is a bit different as the 510 has a clock signal not a 555 timer. However, it appear someone soldered one cap (red) for 1200 baud and one cap (yellow) for 300 baud. You should only jumper one of them across to the 555 timer. Its hard to tell from th...

Re: Dumping 8" diskettes.

While looking for the WinOSI software I noticed a C3dump program. http://osi.marks-lab.com/software/files/tools/C3dump.zip That is exactly what I need. As for the OSItools, I noticed in the RAWDUMP.ASM program the get/put char address were different than my ROM routines ;OSI MONITOR ROM ROUTINES INP...

Dumping 8" diskettes.

I looked at the "OSI Disk Dump Tools" on the site and they seem to be for a basic ROM machine not one with the sysmon ROM. A quick review of the assembler code I noticed a few things addresses are different than the ROM in my machine. Does anyone know if there is a disk dump routine that works with ...

Re: FBASIC and FORTH manuals and a few other bits.

I will have a look at creating disk images of the software and scan that listing for you. Right now I'm just relearning the OS. I had forgotten how basic this system is and how loud it is. It is making a great heater, helping to keep,my basement warm as out weather gets colder. :D PS. My wife has su...

OSI C3A (finally) Booting from Floppy

My C3A system has finally booted from the floppy disk!! I used my homebrewed 6502 logic analyser to find it was stuck trying to move the head to track zero. Then used my saleae logic analyser on the 470 disk controller find the "step" signal was toggling on/off at the PIA but not on the 50 pin disk ...

6502 Logic Analyser

While working on resurrecting my OSI C3-8P with the broken floppy disks I dreamed of having the logic analyser I used back in the '80s. It provided data capture and disassembly of a running 6502. With more time than money I started working on using a Teensy microcomputer as a logic analyser and now ...

FBASIC and FORTH manuals and a few other bits.

I have finally created a list of my hardware, software and documentation. I didn't have as much software as I thought and I still haven't got my floppy working to see what I really have. I have scanned the FBASIC manuals & a bit of the FORTH manual. You can find links on this web page http://lockett...

Hello

I joined the forum quite a while ago and have been lurking around. It's time to do the introduction. When I started as a young Engineer with a small telco on the East Coast of Canada the OSI CP3 was state of the art. We had the 19" rack mounted version with two sliding drawers. One for dual 8" flopp...

Re: OSIWeb.org wish list :-)

I will scan the FBasic manuals and send them along. Unfortunately my CP3 is having issues with the disk drives. I fired it up this week (first time in almost 30 years) and got as far as the H/D/M. But when I select D it only load the head and nothing else. I have three of the 8" floppy drives so hop...
