Re: Funky 540 Video board on 4P
Dave...you are totally rock and roll! I decided the evidence was fairly well weighted towards the U5H being dead, so I went ahead and changed out the 74LS163 as I had some spare in my parts bin. Dropped in a nice machined socket first of course. Now the machine seems to be working 100%. Interestingl...

Re: Funky 540 Video board on 4P
Hi Dave, Thanks for the insight. I checked U5H and U5F. Using a logic probe U5F seems to be functioning correctly and I cross checked it with the working board, and it seems consistent. However, as you predicted, U5H seems a bit strange. Basically all the output lines (pins 11, 12, 13, and 14) seem ...

Funky 540 Video board on 4P
I am unfortunately having an issue with my 4P. It was working fine about a month ago, but today when I went to power it up to test some disks the screen was quite funky. It's like a single line of random characters (although it seems the random characters are the same on each power up) with the scre...

Thanks Dave,
I'll double check my files and set the correct sizes.

Re: eBay alert: 29 various C1 Cassettes
Great that they arrived safely. From previous experience I think it is best that the first thing to do is make digital .wav files from the cassettes. If the tapes degrade further due to repeated playing then you know that there is at least one decent digital backup. I use the free program called Aud...

Re: eBay alert: 29 various C1 Cassettes
There seems to be some interesting stuff there (although not the elusive FBASIC and FORTH), Great to see that you were able to get them at a decent price. (Ohio Scientific software) Hide & seek, Modem routine, Bomber Luner Lander Breakout Series II video swap Destroyer SCX-102 C1P Sampler (Aardvark)...

Re: eBay alert: 29 various C1 Cassettes
The cassettes I recently archived I purchased from this seller, but not through ebay. The sale was private.
I'm not sure where he keeps finding all this stuff.
Maybe we can all chip in to buy them as a group so that we can archive them?

Re: Fabricating a 2P badge
Hi Glitch, Thanks for the response. The badge I want to make is actually much simpler that that. Basically a strip of thin aluminium with the logo screen printed in black. So it's really not that difficult to fabricate. If I can't find anyone do do it, I may just have a go at making it myself (I use...
