Re: OSI reproduction project

I plan to put them all on the archive as well as Github. Probably Github first, as I'm really wanting to redo the site using more modern tools, but will have to learn about those tools. I will start moving stuff over to Github in the next week or two. I'm still doing some tidying up of the fonts, et...

Re: OSI reproduction project

I actually have a 582 4-slot that I plan to send for scanning along with the 502 board. However--Grant, if you already have recreated the 582 gerbers and would be willing to make them available, that would be fantastic! It looks like we're getting all the elements together for all kinds of OSI repro...

Re: 500 board roms

OSI used standard addresses for basic I/O functionality including keybaord, serial, and I/O routines. The 500 board used 1702A proms to hold 256-byte code blocks for these functions. The same code is included in the SYNMON-1 and SYN-600 ROMs shipped with later 502, 505, and 600/Superboard-II systems...

OSI and other vintage PCB fonts

The PCB scanning service seems to be replacing the text fonts with blocky stroke fonts, which make the fab files much smaller, but are ugly and not faithful to the original look. One step in processing the gerbers after scanning, after importing back to the PCB tool, is to replace those stroke fonts...

Re: Good Times

The Klyball boards are near-exact reproductions. The only difference, as I mentioned, is that the PCB's he made use Cherry keys instead of the originals. The layout is otherwise essentially identical. Check out this thread, showing Grant's build: http://osiweb.org/osiforum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=196 Dave

Re: Good Times

Welcome! The Superboard II/600 boards pop up on Ebay from time to time. If you want to try building your own, Grant (Klyball) made some really nice replica PCB's of the 600 and 610 boards, plus a data separator if you want a disk. He has version that uses Cherry keys, for which he created custom key...

Re: OSI reproduction project

The scans have started to come back. So far, I have the 505, 580, 573, and 575 scans. I expect the A15 and 498 tomorrow, and the 470 and 540B next week. The scans look great, but I still need to look them over. I plan to put them up on the site next week.

Re: OSI reproduction project

The 540B board and the 470 board have been received and will be added to the boards currently in process. Haven't got back any completed scans yet. I think it takes a little while.

Next up to be depopulated, my 502 board.
