I tried to OCR with Acrobat 9 Pro, and the result was not nearly as good.

I must have missed that. The text I see when I cut&paste from the PDF seems better than the text in the ZIP, though.

It looks like the document has already been OCR'd. You can select the code, cut it, and paste into an editor. It still has plenty of typos, many similar to the OCR in the ZIP file, but overall appears to be closer.

Cool system!
The best way to power up, after inspecting visually for any obvious bad parts, is with a variac, slowly, and check voltages during ramp-up.

I believe the lighted switch is indeed a reset switch. You can verify that with an ohmmeter. It should plug into the molex connector at the top of the 505 board. Nice work! I think a dedicated board with the features you describe would be very desirable, especially if it also accommodates the extra 16K from 8000-BFFF for systems without ROM BASIC. That would make it nearly a universal OSI RAM board.
