Re: Building the KLyball 600D
My sockets came today. I'll be warming up the soldering iron tomorrow to get them mounted and will probably start with the 610 and DS boards too while I'm waiting. I have all the ICs for everything. Just waiting on the Cherry browns to get the 600 operational.

Re: Building the KLyball 600D
I ordered the "brown" plunger switch to give a little tactile feel. No on the shift lock. They are gold and it seems very, very hard to come by. I called Cherry and they said they would manufacture them for me, but I needed to buy a minimum of 4000. That's not going to happen. There is a guy in the ...

Re: Questions about data bus buffers and DD signal
The relationship between the DD and R/W signal is not direct. To read (or write) from a device on the CPU (bus) side the 8T28, the DD signal will remain high at all times. However, to read from a device on the expansion (receiver/transmitter) side of the 8T28 the DD line must be driven low when the ...

Re: Building the KLyball 610
Great progress Jeff! This is so cool!
The parts for my 600 board are slowly coming in. I should just have spent the money and gotten everything form Digikey, but I've tried to keep the cost down (fixed income and all
) and ordered a few things from the far east (like the Cherry key switches).

Re: Hello
Good to have you aboard John! Nice system. I used to look at the ads for those CP3 systems back in the 70's and drool. What incredible potential that system had. Then the 8086 came along and computers have taken a downhill turn since. I have a new laptop with more raw computing powe...

Re: Keyboard Switches
They are similar but not identical. A Cherry cap can be made to fit the Futaba switch by trimming the long arms of the nylon "+" on the Futaba's plunger. While the Cherry switch has a symmetrical "+", the Futaba's is longer in one direction.

Re: Designing a general purpose memory board
Hi Jeff, Just had another look. You need to make sure the DD signal only goes low when the R/W line is high and a chip on the memory board is selected (read operations only). Right now it looks as though it will go low when any chip is selected for either reading or writing. Edit: Also, it looks lik...
