been a while...

Post by nama » Thu Aug 01, 2013 2:10 pm

Well, it's been a long time since anyone has posted here so I thought I'd just say 'Hi'. Although I haven't been very active in the community recently. the OSI machines are never far from my mind. I also wanted to say that even though the forum maybe quiet, I do know there are a couple of things happening in the background that may pan out to be interesting, so stay tuned...

Anyway, I just wanted to shout out to Dave, and all the other people that keep the OSI spirit alive. Hoping for great things in the future.

Much respect

Phil

I can feel the urge to do some OSI stuff coming on ;-) It usually hits me a couple times per year, but has been absent for a while now...

After two days with the scope and multimeter ive managed to get my RevD Series II 600 bd back up running. Had a sync problem. Flakey Xtal and resistor in sync timing mono broken. (lucky find as was intermittent with vertical mounted restor broken at the pcb end). By the way, was the Rev D board 600 baud as standard ?? and the printer port 2400 baud??
Next job is my 8 inch highly modded system that also has a display problem. Also looking at transferring an 8" 65D3.3 image I created and binary files from PC to the Series II Superboard now that its going.
I would also like to make an expansion board , the one detailed in the Third Book of OSI using the 44way slots looks interesting. Maybe add a disk controller and data seperator... anyone else interested

PS doe anyone know of a source for the 3.932160MHZ Xtal used on the Superboard Series II Rev D. Would be much appreciated.
Cheers Guys. Mike

I saw that for sale Steve and was tempted but the freight looked prohibitive for me. Hope it works for you.
By the way if you put Wemon details up please include readable docs as the ones you sent me I cant read the right hand margin of the page.! Thanks in anticipation.

Does anyone have the OSI UK Group news letters and any info on Premier Publications extended Basic Roms and Toolkit documentation. That would be great to have and I am happy to share the ROMs.

Steve, congratulations. I hope the machine works. If not, post here what it is doing, and let's get you a working machine.

I would be most interested in the ROMs and documentation for the site.

Dave.

C4P arrived today. My bad luck continues... One word: MOUSE

Ya, this machine was home for a mouse - of the non-computer kind. Shoulda known by the chewed power cord. As such, there is much rust inside. Could not remove one screw to get the bottom off, so I ended up drilling it out.

Stock C4P inside. 502 and 540 boards. The 540 board actually looks ok. The 502 board is ok on the component side, but the bottom is all blackened and a big mess. Keyboard looks ok, as does the cabling and power supply.

I will be doing a more thorough examination tomorrow.

Opinions? Should I leave negative feedback to the seller? Before bidding I asked the seller to open it and tell me what was inside but got no response. It looks like someone tried to open it but the didn't have the tools.

Hope its fixable Steve. I see no condition comments were given in the auction details. Is it buyer beware ? Not getting a reply to your question would put one off a bit.
Are there many of these come up on Ebay.??
Im starting to look here in NZ to see what I can find in garage sales etc... Good luck removing that black stuff !!!
