Are there many of these come up on Ebay.??
Im starting to look here in NZ to see what I can find in garage sales etc... Good luck removing that black stuff !!!
I tend to agree that "as-is" and "untested" is buyer beware. I prefer to see lots of pictures in those cases. In the past sellers have often opened up the case and provided additional pictures. Other times I think it's just an excuse to sell known defective items. Many times I see something like "I do not have the equipment to test" when you know all they need is a simple rca cable or something.

Anyway, I'll try cleaning off the boards and checking the wiring. The power cord will need replacing. Since the case is in such bad shape I may just cannibalize the parts.

My 2P had a problem with mice:

When It first arrived it smelt just rank. a lot of cleaning got it back to a good place. I still need to post pictures of the final restoration, but I still can't find a place to make the 2P badge for any less that ¥8000 (thats about $80)...ridiculous. Until I get that sorted it's hard to call the restoration finished.

Good luck with the mouse problem.

The maker space here in Dallas has a laser cutter/engraver. I think it would be possible to spray-paint an aluminum plate, and engrave off the unwanted paint to make a badge. Some people here are making PCB's that way.

Another possibility would be to engrave the badge into metalized black plastic.

I drilled a hole in the badge on my C2-4P to mount a switch (Can't remember for what), and later tried to cover it up with Al foil and magic marker, so I could use a badge as well. I will download your artwork, try to order some materials, and will try out a some options here when I have a chance to swing by the Makerspace.

Would something like this work?

I'll email them and ask.
Usually the price hikes up if it's original artwork as opposed to their standard fonts.

We'll see.
