Is anyone interested in a 6809 add on for the 560z. If the proto area is to dense then I would rather a plugin board on the Z80 socket. Maybe add two ROM sockets,RAM and a multi pin jumper that would allow selection of Z80/6809 in situ. Doable ?

I think the 510 would be more of a natural basis for a 6809 upgrade. It has a 6502, 6800, and a Z-80. I'd replace the 6800 with a 6809. The 6800 does not offer any particular enticements over the 6502, while the 6809 is perhaps the nicest 8-bit processor of that era.

On the other hand, it would not be too difficult just to build a whole new CPU board based on the 6809, or even replace the 6502 on a 505 board with a 6809.

Mile High Test (now called Gardien Services) received the other boards and will start the scanning.

Now I have the 470 board depopulated in addition to the 540B.

The 470 board was configured as a Parallel port and wave-soldered, and whoever stuffed the board used a dull cutter that flared out the leads, which caused some pad damage when some parts came out, in part due to deteriorating glue on this board. They also bent the pins on the DIPs, which made removing them a pain. Anyway, hopefully the plan is to fix all the defects and cut traces digitally in the Gerber.

The 540B board and the 470 board have been received and will be added to the boards currently in process. Haven't got back any completed scans yet. I think it takes a little while.

Next up to be depopulated, my 502 board.

The scans have started to come back. So far, I have the 505, 580, 573, and 575 scans. I expect the A15 and 498 tomorrow, and the 470 and 540B next week. The scans look great, but I still need to look them over. I plan to put them up on the site next week.

I actually have a 582 4-slot that I plan to send for scanning along with the 502 board.

However--Grant, if you already have recreated the 582 gerbers and would be willing to make them available, that would be fantastic!

It looks like we're getting all the elements together for all kinds of OSI reproductions, from C1, C2, and C3 lines!

What we really need now is some kind of C1/C2-style case design, in wood or metal, that could be replicated by CNC and other CAM techniques. Anyone willing to come up with a concept drawing to get the ball rolling?

I'm working on a S-100 chassis kit, built from just flat, square aluminum panels, and OpenStrut. Easy to make at home with a jigsaw and files, I'll probably offer a full kit as well.

Should be easy enough to build up a Challenger 2 style box, it'd be more rigid than the originals at least!
